Tips for ApplyingGo to Cochise College or Another College/University. Pay Attention to Deadlines. Enroll in your classes in a timely manner. Otherwise, you may lose your scholarship. Before You Apply Obtain a working email address. You will receive notifications through this account, so be sure the email address you provide is current. Click here to look up your Cochise College email address, call the Student Development Center for assistance, or provide another email address you check regularly. Obtain a college identification number. You may enter an identification number issued by another college/university or use N/A if you do not have a number. If you already have a Cochise College identification number but have forgotten it, contact the Advising Office. Obtain copies of your unofficial transcripts* - high school, GED, or college. You must send your most recent unofficial transcripts, even if you sent them last year. Obtain a letter of recommendation* from a teacher, counselor or employer. The best recommendation letters clearly demonstrate how well the writer knows the applicant. It is helpful in assessing financial need if you also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Contact the Financial Aid Office for assistance. Depending upon the scholarship/s you choose to apply for, you may need to submit an essay in addition to completing the application. Draft your essay in another application and paste it into the appropriate section of the online application. Know your academic plans. You will be asked if you are pursuing an associate degree or a certificate and for an academic major. When given a choice of degrees and majors, if yours is not listed, choose "Other Degree/Major Not Listed." *Digital copies of transcripts and recommendation letters can be uploaded into the system, and hard copies can be mailed to: Cochise College Foundation, c/o Scholarship Processing, 4190 W. Highway 80, Douglas, AZ 85607. Applications that are incomplete or missing documentation will not be accepted. Provide Complete Answers to the Questions. Your responses can be written in advance and pasted or uploaded into the STARS application system. When responding to these questions, give some thought to how a scholarship will help you as you juggle your responsibilities and support a family or yourself, the confidence it could give you to continue your education, or whether you are the first in your family to attend college. Characterize yourself as a well-rounded student by describing your extracurricular activities. Describe one that is most meaningful to you. Some scholarships will require an additional essay. Complete the Entire Application. To stop the application process and return to it later, complete the section you’re working on, hit “Save and Exit,” and return to that section using the links at top left after you log in again. Forgotten STARS Username/Password The Selection Process Scholarship recipients for 2008-09 will be notified via email in summer 2008. If you receive a scholarship write a note of thanks to the donor!
