Cochise College Operational Plans

Value of Operational Planning
The process of developing and implementing annual operational plans at Cochise College ensures that the strategic plan has a significant impact. It links the future orientation of strategic planning with the practical realities of annual budgets and measurable outcomes, thereby ensuring that the strategic plan is not just a set of ideas, but a genuine guide to move the college in a positive direction.

Process
At the beginning of each fiscal year, the senior management of Cochise College, in consultation with others across the institution, examines the strategic plan and translates its broad goals and priorities into a set of measurable objectives to be completed during the course of that fiscal year. Developing the annual operational plan involves the budgeting process and the setting of goals for individuals and departments throughout the college. This plan is coordinated by the Office of Curriculum, Learning and Assessment (OCLA), approved by the president, and submitted to the Governing Board.

At the end of each fiscal year, the director of OCLA gathers information on the results of that year’s operational plan, including its goals, objectives and actions, then prepares a report on the outcomes associated with that year’s plan, thereby linking accountability to the process. This report is submitted to the president and the Governing Board.
