Article

Four Cochise College students have been named to the All-Arizona Academic Team, a statewide honor recognizing outstanding academic achievement, leadership and community involvement among community college students. Representing both the Sierra Vista and Douglas campuses, the students will receive tuition waivers to pursue bachelor's degrees at Arizona's public universities. The All Arizona Academic Team highlights students who demonstrate a commitment to scholarship and civic engagement while preparing for future careers.

Isaiah James, a cybersecurity major at the Sierra Vista Campus, plans to transfer to the University of Arizona and earn a bachelor's degree. He aims to build a career protecting companies, government, and consumer information from cyber threats. Beyond the classroom, James serves as treasurer of the Student Government Association and vice president of Student Programming. He is active in the Phi Theta Kappa at the district and regional levels, a Campus Vote Project Democracy Fellow, a member of the HACU Voces Nuevas Leadership Program and was recently named to the All IN Student Voting Honor Roll.

Jimmy Madrid Lopez, a cybersecurity student at the Douglas Campus, plans to transfer to Western Governors University, where he will specialize in digital forensics. In addition to his academic studies, Lopez serves as a peer STEM tutor and is a member of the TRiO Student Support Services program.

Jacqueline Ramirez, a general studies student at the Douglas Campus, is pursuing a career in filmmaking. She plans to transfer to Northern Arizona University to continue developing her creative skills. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and serves as the president of the Film & Media Club. She also volunteered for Go Red for Women.

Lily Wadsworth, a social and behavioral sciences major at the Sierra Vista Campus, plans to transfer to Northern Arizona University to earn her bachelor's degree. Her career goal is to work as a museum curator or archivist. She serves as vice president of the Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Mu Zeta Chapter and president of the Christian Challenge Club. She also works as a library student aide and volunteers with the Friends of the Sierra Vista Library.

Students selected for the All-Arizona Academic Team are recognized for balancing rigorous academic achievement with leadership and service. This combination reflects the mission of community colleges across the state.
