Cochise College to host TED Democracy: Founding Futures livestream event

Community invited to join nationwide conversation on the future of democracy June 13 at the Sierra Vista Campus.

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, Cochise College will host a livestream of TED Democracy Philadelphia: Founding Futures, a nationwide symposium designed to explore the evolving story and future of democracy through bold ideas, civic dialogue and community engagement.

The free public event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Arizona time at the Cochise College Sierra Vista Campus and is presented through a collaboration between the college’s libraries and Civic Engagement Committee.

Streaming live from Philadelphia ahead of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, the daylong event will feature more than 15 original TED Talks from civic leaders, scholars, innovators and changemakers focused on democracy, civic participation and the future of communities across the nation.

Through a partnership with Visit Philadelphia and the American Library Association, and sponsored by The Pew Charitable Trusts, libraries and community organizations nationwide are serving as satellite host sites to expand access to these conversations and encourage civic engagement at the local level.

Karly Scarbrough, Cochise College’s Director of Library Services, said the event reflects the college’s commitment to creating opportunities for community dialogue, learning and civic participation.

“We’re proud to serve as a host site and bring this important civic moment to our local community,” Scarbrough said. “This event creates space for people to gather, reflect and engage with ideas shaping the future of democracy.”
