For many students, starting college begins close to home, with questions about family, money and the future.
At Cochise College, fall registration is now open, giving new, returning and continuing students time to choose classes, meet with an advisor and prepare for the fall semester. Classes begin the week of Aug. 17.
For Joel Sosa, a Cochise College student studying administration of justice, choosing Cochise College meant staying connected to home while finding his own direction.
“I chose Cochise College because I wasn’t ready to move away right after high school,” Sosa said. “What I’ve found here is that the instructors really care. The small classes make it more personal. You get to know your instructors, and they get to know you.”
That personal support helped Sosa decide what he wanted to study.
“After high school, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to study,” he said. “It took a few conversations with the advisors to figure it out. Choosing a career is a big decision, and the advisors helped me find the right direction.”
With a free application, affordable tuition, scholarships and flexible class options, Cochise College academic advisors are encouraging students to register early and explore programs, support services and financial aid available to them.
Cochise College serves students at many stages of life, from recent high school graduates and working adults to military-affiliated students, parents and those looking to change careers. Students can choose from more than 90 associate degrees, certificates, university transfer programs, workforce trainings and two bachelor’s degree programs.
For students who want to stay close to home, save money or begin a path toward a university degree or career, Cochise College offers options designed to fit different goals and schedules.
Cochise County high school seniors who enroll at Cochise College for the fall semester may qualify for a $500 Senior Scholarship. The scholarship can be combined with financial aid and other scholarships.
Students planning to attend this fall are also encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, known as the FAFSA. The FAFSA is available online at fafsa.gov. Cochise College’s school code is 001072. Financial aid may help eligible students pay for tuition, books and other college costs.
Registering early gives students more choices and more time to prepare. Advisors are available to help students choose classes, understand degree requirements and build a schedule that fits their lives.
Students do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Whether they are applying for the first time, returning after time away or continuing toward a degree or certificate, Cochise College advisors are ready to help them take the next step.
Students can view the class schedule online, explore available courses and register in person at Cochise College locations in Douglas, Sierra Vista, Benson, Willcox and Fort Huachuca.
