Pit Fire Pottery Festival
Friday, November 14, 2025 – Douglas Campus
The public is invited to join us for the annual Pit Fire Pottery Festival, proudly produced by the Douglas Campus Art Department. Experience an exciting fusion of ceramics, sounds, tastes, and performances by visual and performing artists. The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. on the Douglas Campus.
Pit Fire Lighting: Approximately 6:00 p.m.
Fireworks Show: Following the Pit Fire lighting at 6:30 p.m., with complimentary earplugs available.
Entertainment: Workingman's Band - 2pm - 4pm, RockUs 4pm - 6pm, Bi-Polar Weather 6pm - 8pm.
Soup Options: Pumpkin/Butternut Squash, Chili, Chicken Tortilla.
For a donation of $15, you’ll receive one of 1,000 handmade ceramic bowls created
by a student over the last year (valued at $36). Or, choose two bowls for $25. Bowl sales will begin after 4:00 p.m. and Soup will begin being served at 5:00 p.m.
You can also purchase Pit Fire T-shirts and stickers. Donations can be made by cash
or credit; please note, no ATM is available on campus. We also welcome donations of
nonperishable food items for the Cochise Cupboard Food Pantry.
Bring the whole family for a night to remember! Free admission.
Important Information:
No pets allowed, except for service animals, per Cochise College policy.
This is a drug, alcohol and tobacco-free event.
Rain or Shine, the Event Will Take Place!
Please note that the Pit Fire Pottery Festival may not proceed in its entirety or
the Fire Lighting may be delayed in extremely windy weather if it is unsafe to do
so.

Pit Fire Pottery Festival
A pit fire is an ancient method of “baking” clay that has been placed in a hole, or
pit dug into the ground with a wood fire burning above, resulting in pieces covered
in swirls of colors and patterns.
Cochise College celebrates this technique with a festival to celebrate the arts. All
proceeds support the Cochise College art department and the clubs that participate
as vendors. The event is free to attend, but you can purchase a hand-crafted ceramic
bowl for $10 to fill with gourmet soup freshly made by the college’s culinary arts
club. 1000 ceramic bowls were each hand-made and uniquely crafted by an art student.
This event is an educational celebration of the arts, and we are extending outreach
to our community to make this happen in the years to come. Whether you are a vendor,
fellow artist, or another school wishing to participate, we encourage you to reach
out and be our partner for this great event.
More than just a pit fire, the Cochise College Pit Fire Festival represents the artistic
expression of our global community. Bringing together thousands of attendees, this
event gives you access to a committed and growing college network from all parts of
Mexico, Arizona, California, and many other states.
Friends of the Art Department
Individuals who support the Cochise College Art Department financially automatically
become members of the Friends of the Art Department. Members who have provided contact
information receive the biannual “Accolade” magazine and may be invited to special
events put on by the department. Funding supports scholarships, professional development,
and equipment and supplies for the Art Department. Questions may be directed to the
Cochise College Foundation.
