Overview
The Medical Billing and Coding Certificate program provides training for entry-level employment in a medical practice setting with an emphasis on the routine administrative and billing/coding tasks required in the day-to-day operation of health care offices and clinics of healthcare professionals and facilities. Students will be prepared to sit for a national exam for a coding certification upon satisfactory completion of the program.
Learning Outcomes Students who successfully complete this program will be able to do the following:

Perform key administrative tasks, including patient scheduling, records management, and office coordination in a healthcare setting.

Demonstrate an understanding of legal, ethical, and regulatory standards in coding, billing, and healthcare practices.

Communicate professionally and sensitively with patients, staff, and third-party payers in diverse environments.

Apply medical terminology and coding systems (ICD, CPT, HCPCS) accurately for diagnosis, procedures, and supplies.

Manage patient accounts and reimbursement processes while preparing for national coding certification exams.
